Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering or related fields required; MBA desired.
• 7 – 10 years of relevant business experience with a strong emphasis on analytics, demonstrated business and financial acumen contributing to the development of solid business practices, and a solid working knowledge of GAAP accounting.
• Proven experience managing, developing and recruiting a high-performing team.
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment with evolving structures while effectively managing multiple projects with demanding deadlines.
• Significant experience with at least one financial planning / management reporting system (Hyperion, Cognos, Adaptive, Host, etc.) including system deployment and administration.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) including mastery of developing complex models in Excel and mentoring team in best practices.
• Lawson accounting software, database software and data warehousing experience preferred.
• English fluency required.
• Availability for travel when required (approximately 10-15%).
• Exceptionally strong and proven analytical skills with strong attention to detail
• High-energy self-starter with a proactive approach and history of successful accomplishments; willingness to be hands-on and dig into the details.
• A communicative, flexible and team-oriented leader that can evaluate a situation and prescribe corrective action to improve it, contributing to the solutions of complex business issues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the CFO, US Region, the incumbent is responsible for the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function including: budget, forecast and strategic planning; capital/technology project, commercial proposal, financial, labor and profitability analysis; management reporting; regional master data management; and, developing and continuously improving the necessary systems and data models for efficient planning and reporting across the region. The incumbent is expected to take a leading role in driving improved profitability through insightful analysis and management reporting by developing and retaining a high-performing team of analysts and partnering effectively with leaders and process owners across the US Region.

• Management Reporting: Develop and maintain the KPI Dashboard and system of management reports providing transparency and timely insights enabling business partners to better understand their business performance and make informed, fact-based decisions; partner effectively with IT and owners of operations systems for efficient data transfer across the US Region system landscape; partner with the Accounting organization to help assure accurate and timely GL close and financial reporting; deliver business insight, reporting and analysis of key operating variances in monthly (preliminary and actual), quarterly and annual US Region financial and KPI information to US CEO and executive leadership team; submit financial reports in compliance with all Corporate reporting deadlines.
• Budget, Forecast and Strategic Planning: Coordinate, compile and consolidate the annual budget, rolling forecast and multi-year strategic business plans including confirmation and sign-off of submitted figures by business responsibles; develop and distribute planning instructions, baseline assumptions and timelines and provide guidance to the field during the respective planning processes; review and analyze operational and overhead budgets, forecasts and strategic plans; prepare summary presentations for each cycle as required.
• Corporate Performance Management (CPM) System: Expand use of the US Region CPM system, Host Analytics, to further streamline and enhance planning and reporting capabilities across the region; maintain a robust CPM system training program to ensure the region utilizes Host Analytics to its utmost potential.
• Profitability Analysis: Lead and perform customer, line-of-business and profit center profitability analysis and performance benchmarking; recommend changes to pricing and/or the cost structure when necessary; deliver analytical, modeling and project management support for key initiatives across the US Region network as required.
• Financial Analysis: Lead and perform financial analysis on profitability enhancing initiatives and new business opportunities; develop, distribute and maintain methods and tools to analyze the financial impact of key operational drivers such as the flight schedule and asset utilization.
• Capital/Technology Project Analysis: Lead and perform analysis of business case proposals delivering robust cost-benefit and IRR/NPV analysis evaluating available alternatives, confirming alignment with strategic initiatives, ranking competing proposals and refining project presentations for senior management review and approval as required.
• Commercial Proposal Analysis: Lead and perform commercial proposal analysis delivering comprehensive allocated, marginal and theoretical (efficient, stand-alone) P&L projections; quantify the cash conversion cycle for all service components of the proposal; highlight risk exposures and related strategic issues; manage pricing and profitability models (i.e., proforma) to support a consistent and efficient review process leading to maximum scale and profitability.
• Labor Analysis: Lead and perform labor analysis including developing labor models for multi-year cost projections, compiling competitive contract comparisons and quantifying the impact of company and union contract proposals in support of labor negotiations.
• Master Data Management (MDM): Lead the US Region data governance organization; establish and maintain the MDM policies and procedures required to ensure consistent and accurate data across the region to support business decisions with a trusted single version of the truth.
• Develop and train financial analysts in FP&A on analytical and modeling techniques.
• Deliver training on financial concepts and P&L assessment throughout the region as required.
• Support functional and operational managers in financial performance review and analysis.
• Conduct and support ad hoc requests for analysis as required and other duties as assigned.
